Nebraska Treasurer Returns $50 Mil in 4 Years
Contributed on December 29, 2010
Nebraska State Treasurer Shane Osborn took office in 2007, and has returned over $50 million to the people in 4 years as State Treasurer. Dedication to raising unclaimed property awareness propelled Osborn's treasury to return more in one term than had been returned in the previous 10 years. The average amount returned to each person was $734. The largest check was for $660,000 and there were 27 that exceeded $100,000. Osborn will leave office in January of 2011. The job will then fall into the capable hands of Don Stenberg, former Nebraska State Attorney General.
